Looking back, what’s a moment at WPGA that has stayed with you — one that shaped who you are today?

One moment that has stayed with me was our response when schools shut down during COVID. It was an incredibly uncertain and unsettling time, yet I felt deeply comforted knowing I was part of the WPGA community. Rather than simply reacting, WPGA worked intentionally to continue providing meaningful learning experiences for students while also prioritizing everyone’s mental health and well-being. That commitment to connection and care during such a challenging period reaffirmed why this community matters so much to me. It reminded me that WPGA is more than a school; it is a family, and that is a big reason why I am still proud to be part of it today.

What does the WPGA community mean to you, and why?

If I had to describe the WPGA community in one word, it would be caring. We care deeply about our students, our families, and our colleagues. There is a genuine sense of support and collaboration in the way we work together. I am fortunate to work alongside dedicated, thoughtful professionals, lifelong friends, who always put students first. I truly cannot imagine a better place to be, and I feel proud every day to be part of a community where compassion and commitment are so evident.

How have you seen WPGA grow or change over the years — and what’s remained the same?

When I first started working at WPGA, the school felt more traditional in many ways. Students stood and greeted teachers when they entered the classroom, final exams began as early as Grade 3, and uniform expectations were quite strict. Over the years, we have evolved in meaningful and thoughtful ways. Our practices have become more responsive to research and to the needs of our students. What has remained constant, however, is our commitment to high standards and strong relationships. We continue to set high expectations for both our students and ourselves. Most importantly, creating strong attachments and fostering meaningful connections remains at the heart of who we are.
What’s one lesson or value from WPGA that you carry into your life beyond school?

Attachment is a value that I carry with me beyond school. Our commitment to attachment theory truly sets WPGA apart. We intentionally nurture relationships and recognize the importance of connection in helping individuals thrive. I have learned that small gestures, such as a smile, a nod, or a moment of acknowledgement, can have a profound impact. This mindset shapes not only how I teach, but also how I interact with others in everyday life.

As we celebrate 30 years, what’s your hope or vision for the next 30?

As we look ahead, I hope to see WPGA continue to grow its impact within the local community while also expanding and strengthening its diverse community. I envision deeper partnerships, broader outreach, and continued innovation, all while staying grounded in the values that have defined WPGA for the past 30 years.
