Looking back, what’s a moment at WPGA that has stayed with you — one that shaped who you are today?
When I first started working at WPGA, what surprised me the most was the concept of team: everyone had the same goal of educating the whole child and cultivating deep learning. I had never worked in a place where everyone loved their job as much as I did. Every day was filled with joyful students, supportive colleagues and caring families. This deep commitment meant I felt empowered to grow my practice and develop my skills to create the best learning opportunities possible.
Early on I had the privilege of working directly with Ms. Corcoran. Her drive and passion for student growth and love of WPGA was evident. Her vision of what WPGA was and could be was invigorating and inspiring. What she was confident in, I knew I could trust. These experiences with her galvanized my belief in the school and made me feel more connected to the community.
What does the WPGA community mean to you, and why?
For me, WPGA has always stood for deep learning and the ability to be oneself. Deep learning happens when expectations are clear and there is joy in learning something difficult. WPGA equips students to be the best version of themselves and to be fully capable of handling the world outside the school. It also never forgets that students, staff and families are whole people, not just segmented pieces.
How have you seen WPGA grow or change over the years — and what’s remained the same?
WPGA has never wavered from educating the whole child and being a place where joy is found in learning moments large and small. There is strength in the community and the love of learning.
What’s one lesson or value from WPGA that you carry into your life beyond school?
One lesson to carry forward is how important it is to keep learning, growing and being yourself.
As we celebrate 30 years, what’s your hope or vision for the next 30?
My hope is that we remain true to who we are as a school and keep students and learning at the heart of all decisions. With that at our core, we will be a school that develops students for a future that we can not yet imagine.
